Bhakti
bhaktiThe yoga of devotion: practice powered by love rather than effort or analysis.
Of the Gita's several roads, this is the one with the lowest doorstep and the warmest claim:
The devotee's path, with the bar set deliberately low: a leaf, a flower, fruit, water. What is offered matters less than the devotion it is offered with.
“He who offereth to Me with devotion a leaf, a flower, a fruit, water, that I accept from the striving self, offered as it is with devotion.”
The original Sanskrit
patraṃ puṣpaṃ phalaṃ toyaṃ yo me bhaktyā prayacchati | tad ahaṃ bhakty-upahṛtam aśnāmi prayatātmanaḥ
A leaf, a flower, fruit, water. The offering does not need to be grand; it needs to be meant. Chanting, gratitude practice, and the devotional thread in modern classes all pull on this line.
