Bhagavad Gita

How to act in the world without being ruled by the outcome.

What it is

A seven-hundred-verse conversation set on a battlefield, tucked inside the much larger Mahabharata. A reluctant warrior, Arjuna, asks how he is supposed to act, and Krishna answers.

Why it matters

It takes yoga off the meditation seat and into a working life. Its real subject is how to act well without being ruled by how things turn out, the root of what later gets called karma yoga.
